Bowmanville GO Train Extension
Amended Final Report
The Bowmanville extension represents an opportunity for Durham Region and the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA) to make significant progress towards resolving critical issues such as traffic congestion, housing, and climate change. It's imperative that we take the necessary steps to ensure that we execute this project correctly and effectively, as it's not too late to make any necessary adjustments.
We strongly urge Metrolinx to prioritize transparency and collaboration in developing the Bowmanville extension's infrastructure. This entails planning for accommodating at least six to eight electrified trains per hour. Moreover, we suggest reevaluating the curve design east of the current Oshawa GO station, with a focus on enhancing safety measures, optimizing travel time and enabling increased service.
